Animals in The Hungry Tide and the real Sundarbans

Amitav Ghosh a world renown author wrote a book in which the main characters traveled to and through the Sundarbans. In this book the main characters interact with animals. However the book is a piece of fiction, so this made me interested in looking at how human and animal interaction is portrayed in the novel and how it is in reality.
